Wangal Park is situated on Cheltenham Road directly behind Burwood Girls High School. From its concept in 2011, Higgins Surveyors has been involved in the planning and development of the transformation of an old brick pit into a wetlands and park for the whole community.
Throughout the project, Higgins Surveyors has worked with Burwood council to tailor outcomes that facilitate the projects ever changing needs. The project has had its complications, the first being the necessity of a land swap between Burwood Council and the Department of Education for land that was being used as Playing field for the neighboring high school. Higgins Surveyors prepared the necessary plan of subdivision, liaised with the Department of Education and Burwood Council and Lodged the plans electronically with the Land & Property Information.
During the construction of the wetlands, a major hurdle to overcome was the discovery of old flues underground from when the site was a brick pit. These flues needed to be located underground using Ground Penetrating Radar and then located and surveyed to create a plan showing their location that the landscape architects could work with. Higgins Surveyors were able to assist with this process by contacting underground services locators and work with them to obtain the necessary information.
Higgins Surveyors has been involved with the continued civil works on the site and establishment of the Wetlands, working with contractors Glascott Landscape & Civil to assist with the control and setout of infrastructure and features. Higgins Surveyors has used the latest in GPS and robotic equipment to deliver fast and accurate results to enable the project to stay on track and be delivered on time.
